melancholy

a shadow passes over my thoughts
and it leaves me unsettled
I can't pinpoint what it is
that makes me melancholy

I know I am missing my love
absence makes the heart grow fonder
but the distance causes my heart pain
I feel I might be out of sight out of mind

is this the reason for my melancholy
this shadow over my spirit
its time to lower my expectations
and protect my fragile heart
